In order to participate in Agility, dogs must be at least one year old and have mastered the basics of obedience. They must also attend a screening session in which we evaluate the socialization and basic training to ensure a safe and fun class environment.  We also teach basic groundwork skills during the screening class.

Dogs will eventually be working off-leash and without collars in a very distraction-filled environment. Dogs must be well socialized and return to their handler when called. This is a must!!

Prerequisites for all classes:

All dogs must complete an evaluation class before entering any Capital Comets class. This one hour session is free. We'll be teaching some basic groundwork agility exercises as well as ensuring that the dogs are well socialized and have some basic obedience. Dogs must be at least 1 year old and have up to date vaccinations.

Practices

Back-to-back Agility practices for Club members are held in the Agriplex building at the Saanich Fairgrounds on Stellys' Crossroad in Victoria every Tuesday evening from 6:30 until 8:00, and from 8:00 until 9:30.

Practices are open to visitors, however, if you bring your dog with you we ask that you keep it on leash at all times.

Dogs that are already trained in Agility can be admitted to practices without taking the training course by first getting permission from the Coordinator.
Training Classes

We offer classes for all levels of
experience from our Foundation class  through to Advanced Handling on Monday nights.  On Tuesday nights, the club holds a group practice for dogs who no longer need supervision to ensure safety.

Most class consists of 8 weekly 90
minute sessions.  The class time includes set-up and take-down of equipment.
